GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The New Member Experience/Communications Lead reports to the Director of Communications and is responsible for implementing a comprehensive program to ensure that new hires join the union and enhance new members' union experience. This employee will also assist Local 888 with strategic analysis of membership demographics and industry sectors to provide relevant membership communications.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish and administer "New Member Experience" tracking and accountability systems
- Assist other Departments to promote Union retention and growth and assist in the collection of union membership cards.
- Tracking and analysis of member utilization of member portal. At the request of Internal Organizing Department, assist in elections, contract campaigns, membership sign-up, and membership card collection
- Develop trainings and/or tools to assist the Internal Organizing Department with new member orientations and new hire sign-ups if and when applicable.
- Develop training tools to assist the External Organizing Department.
- Assist departments with membership related issues. Promote Local 888 member benefits.
- Assist members in signing up and using the Local 888 Member Portal and provide continuous technical support.
- At the request of Internal Organizers, utilize, support, and train staff and leaders on communication tools and platforms.
- At the request of the Internal Organizing Department, assist in the recruitment and development of chapter leaders to perform chapter Communications Coordinator functions.
- Assist with members online communication (Mailchimp, Local Website, Web Calendar, Facebook, Twitter, VAN and Purple Text etc.)
- Perform other related duties as required
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Associate degree, previous or current union membership or relevant prior working experience preferred
- Prior training experience preferred.
- Database skills and experience; knowledge of VAN program preferred
- Computer skills and knowledge of office software packages (i.e. MS Word, MS Excel and MS and Access)

WORKING CONDITIONS
- May be required to work irregular hours, work on weekends and holidays, and travel as needed.
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable functioning automobile.
