Staff Accountant

Based in San Dimas, CA

 

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for completing the Union’s financial activities, which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and membership dues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES (include but are not limited):

• Inputs and issues checks for all expenses; generates per capita dues; generates membership packet labels, cards, and list; generates yearend 1099s.
• Responsible for general receivables, direct billings, Affiliate billings, sorting and filing of employer reports; reconciles PAC data; answers main telephone when administrative staff is in meetings.
• Responsible for payroll and payroll deposits and employment tax returns; reconciles bank statements; and ensure distribution of employee yearend W2s by Paychex.
• Inputs dues checks; distributes membership packets; assists in preparing UNAC/UHCP financial statements; answers members’ finance‐related telephone inquiries, on a rotating basis; and writes letters informing members of their due’s status/answer dues questions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• General knowledge of accounts payable, receivable and payroll. Minimum of three (3) years general accounting and financial experience with the ability to implement general accounts, or one-year temporary employment with UNAC/UHCP, or a B.A. or B.S. in a relevant field
• Knowledge of GAAP rules; and general knowledge of financial statement preparation
• Basic computer knowledge and skills, i.e. basic Excel and Office 365 skills.
• Willingness to learn to incorporate the Labor Standard Code with general financial procedures.
• Ability to work well independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. Ability to communicate and interact effectively with UNAC/UHCP officers and staff, Affiliate leadership and Union members.
• Good interpersonal skills, with a team approach.

COMPENSATION PACKAGE
Salary $42.416 – 52.738/hr. We provide a comprehensive package including medical and dental benefits for employee and dependents, optical allowance for employee and dependents, life Insurance for employee, defined benefit pension plan, 401K and flexible spending accounts, education program which includes tuition/course reimbursement and paid time off to take approved courses, vacation, sick leave, holidays, flexible personal time off, plus time off between Christmas day and New Year’s day. This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement with United Nurses Staff Union (UNSU). Salaries and benefits are subject to change based on future Collective Bargaining Agreements.
