Field Educational Assistant
Based in Devens, MA
TCU/IAM Union Advanced Transportation training program is looking to fill the position of Field Educational Assistant (FEA) at the Devens, MA site. Work experience in the airline, railroad or other mass transit area is a bonus. TCU/IAM works with the Shriver Job Corps Program in placing young adults in meaningful transportation-related careers.
Candidate Requirements and Job Responsibilities:
- Familiarity with online educational platforms such as google classroom, as well as various online meeting platforms (Zoom, WebEx, Google Meet, etc.)
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in education, business or similar major is required or significant experience in the administrative field or transportation industry.
- Assists staff members with numerous tasks including student progress monitoring, classroom support, grading, attendance, and discipline.
- Completes daily, weekly, monthly administrative documentation/reports for both the TCU/IAM Administrative Office and the Job Corps Office.
- Work directly with the Lead Field Educational Representative to develop and maintain strong relationships with the sister Job Corps Center (Shriver) staff.
- Supports the program in the development and implementation of educational and recreational outings and events
- Work with staff to contribute meaningfully to the development and implementation of site education, training, recruitment, and job placement initiatives.
- Teaches in the classroom on a substitute basis in multiple areas – Transportation, Office Administration (keyboarding, electronic communications etiquette, etc.), Personal Financial Literacy, Industry Employment Search, and Interview Preparation.
Job Corps students, aged 18-24, enroll in our advanced program after completing a basic trade at any Job Corps Center in the country. Our training program focuses on teaching interpersonal and employability skills, personal financial literacy, customer service (both internal and external), and most importantly, transportation industry specific knowledge and skills. Students may choose any of our transportation tracks, which include Mass Transit, Amtrak, Airlines, Freight Rail, and anything in between. To ensure the long-term success of each student, we utilize a differentiated approach to instruction and planning to create student specific goals and career pathways.
This is a full-time position and offers a competitive salary with excellent benefits.
Salary: $64,000/year
