Part-time Digital Communicator
Based in Missouri
Job Type: Part-time, minimum 20 hrs/week
Compensation: $25 per hour
Purpose of Position: To learn, implement, and improve Missouri Workers Center’s digital strategy by curating digital communications, generating online actions and donations, and funneling users up a ladder of engagement across the digital spectrum. This position will work closely with MWC’s field teams and Communications Manager to create engaging content that furthers MWC’s mission, engages low-wage workers, and grows our digital footprint across the state. This position will also play a role in managing MWC’s data management systems.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Advancing worker justice by engaging our existing and potential online community through organizing and fundraising strategies.
- Designing & creating storytelling-focused content from a worker’s voice, to engage both workers and allies, including but not limited to: email writing, web content, graphic design, social media organic and paid content, SMS and peer-to-peer texting
- Expand MWC’s digital footprint to include emerging social media platforms and create a content calendar to build a footprint on those platforms.
- Identify and develop digital relationships with individuals and institutions that are sympathetic or solidaristic with MWC’s mission and programming.
- Assist MWC’s Communications Manager with tracking traditional media requests and press contacts.
- Report out on digital results, providing metrics and analyzing what they mean for next steps & future campaigns.
- Self-report on live MWC events by taking photos and videos, live streaming, and writing social media post language.
- Maintain a digital content calendar tracking upcoming dates, actions, and compression moments to drive digital strategy.
- Additional digital organizing responsibilities as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A commitment to building a multi-racial workers movement.
- Moderate graphic design skills and an eye for engaging content, photos, and videos.
- Familiarity with basic web development, P2P texting software, social media platforms, and EveryAction or similar databases.
- Detail oriented and able to carry out plans with direction in a timely and effective manner.
- A demonstrated ability to use storytelling and persuasive writing to explain complex legislative and corporate details
- Sharp communication, writing and computer skills.
- The ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines and managing multiple projects
