DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Database Developer designs, develops, and maintains data pipelines to streamline data from various sources into data warehouses. This person will collaborate with departments across the union to understand their requirements and design scalable solutions to meet business needs as well as gain an in-depth knowledge of the business data to propose and implement effective solutions. They are also responsible for ensuring data integrity and performance to support internal applications and data analysis.

  • Analyze, optimize, and tune existing data pipelines for performance, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Ensure data quality and consistency through rigorous testing and validation processes.
  • Develop, write, and execute scripts or programs to support ad hoc requests for data.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline issues in a timely manner to minimize disruptions to data workflows.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Technical Requirements

  • Advanced proficiency with T-SQL and PostgreSQL programming (CTEs, subqueries, windowed aggregations, stored procedures, etc.)
  • Experience building high quality ETL/ELT pipelines using Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to prepare data for downstream reporting/analytics
  • Familiarity with Jira, GitHub, and business intelligence tools

  • Familiarity with labor unions and/or social justice organizations a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • This position is a full-time position that occasionally requires hours outside normal business hours, including some nights, weekends and holidays.
  • This position is based in the New York, NY office.
  • This position is largely computer/office based.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
The role offers a starting salary of $90,000, based on experience. 32BJ offers a full benefits package that includes a fully employer-paid medical, dental and vision plan, for full-time employees and their qualified dependents. We offer retirement benefits, including both a defined benefit pension plan and 401K. The Union currently offers a remote work policy of one remote day per week at the discretion of the manager.

We are not your typical tech shop, and we are looking for someone who is excited to join a mission driven organization. This position is based in person at 32BJ's New York City headquarters. Fully remote is not an option.
