The New York New Jersey Regional Joint Board of Workers United is a Union dedicated to improving the experience of working people through developing militant shop leadership and ambitious new organizing. The labor movement is at a key point where workers, across the country and in many different industries, are taking bold action and winning big. At the same time, our movement is also up against enormous obstacles, and our Union is working to forge a new path by prioritizing new leadership among our members and organizing consistently to build power and win.

The Bilingual Worksite Organizer will work in a variety of industries side-by-side with worker leaders and assigned staff. This work will include shops negotiating improvements in established contracts and shops that will be working to win ambitious first contracts.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work independently and with co-assigned staff to create and implement plans and campaigns in represented shops
  • Work with shop leaders and co-assigned staff to create escalating action plans to achieve collective goals
  • Develop identified leaders into active positions within the Union

Qualifications and Skills include:

  • Fluency in Spanish and English
  • 2 years of union or related organizing experience
  • Demonstrated ability to move workers to take action
  • Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to lead and work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport and credibility with diverse demographic groups
  • Ability and willingness to ask for help when needed
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in both Spanish and English
  • Computer skills, including with Google Suite, email, database and project management software or platforms
  • A car, valid driver’s license and insurance are required

Regular travel within the Tri-State area will be required. Some out of the area travel may be required to work on other campaigns or attend seminars or workshops. Travel and other relevant expenses are reimbursed.  

Salary and Benefits: Starting salary is commensurate with experience and skill. The pay rate ranges from $75,000 to $85,000 per year. Excellent full benefit package includes 100% employer paid medical and dental, as well as 100% employer paid defined benefit pension plan.
