Job Summary
The Committee of Interns and Residents is looking to fill a Project Staff position in the Florida Region to provide critical support at its Jackson Memorial Hospital chapter in Miami. The Project Staff person must reside in Florida with the ability to travel to Miami as needed. The Project Staff position is a temporary, one-year position. For this position, we need a highly driven and committed individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills who can effectively solve problems. The Project Staff person will report to the Florida Regional Director.

What You’ll Do

  • Member list consolidation and reconciliation to ensure that our lists are accurate and consistent with our dues deduction database.
  • Outreach to members regarding dues collection issues.
  • Provide support to the worksite organizing team for delegate elections.
  • Logistical support for new hire orientations, including department orientations, town halls and socials.
  • Assist in producing and sending out member communications.
  • Coordination of member committee events.
  • Support to the contract bargaining team including assistance with turnout, meeting notes, staff logistics, member outreach and ratification.
  • Aid in the management of the Housestaff Involvement Fund.
  • Other responsibilities, as needed.

What Makes a Great Candidate

  • Previous union or other organizing (political/community) experience, particularly in health care, is preferred.
  • Commitment to social justice and the organizing model of unionism preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to be in the field for work assignments.
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Reliable with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with a strong work ethic.
  • Strong planning and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in utilizing the technological tools needed to be successful in this position (Google Suite, WhatsApp, Slack, Purple Text, VAN, etc).
  • Knowledge of computer programs (including word processing, spreadsheets, and database software).
  • Knowledge of the process of medical training for doctors in the US healthcare system is a plus.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Willingness and ability to work irregular hours, including evenings and occasional weekends, as needed.

CIR Offers
Competitive salary ($59,579 - $109,549) commensurate with experience and in compliance with the staff collective bargaining agreement.
