Project Coordinator
Based in Orange, CA
The Orange County Labor Federation represents more than ninety local unions from every sector of the labor movement with a membership of more than 270,000 working men and women. The Orange County Labor Federation strives to better the lives of all workers. We are currently seeking a motivated individual to fill a full-time Project Coordinator position. The position includes the duties as follow:
Responsibilities:
- Coordinating with locals in gathering information that is useful in identifying opportunities for membership growth and mobilization
- Write and produce basic campaign leaflets and other materials
- Building one-on-one relationships with locals and community allies.
- Manage lists, Access database, assessments, charts and other organizing/campaign tools
- Assist with member turnout for events and actions held by the OCLF
- Identify and develop community leaders committed to organizing for jobs and a fair economy.
- Performs other duties as assigned, including support for other programs.
- Reports to Organizing Director
Qualifications:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Prior union and/or community organizing experience.
- Ability to relate successfully to individuals of all races, nationalities, religions, genders, sexual orientations, income levels, educational backgrounds and occupational groups.
- Prior experience in grassroots organizing, electoral field work and/or community coalition building.
- Demonstrated ability to work long hours, independently, under stress and tight timelines.
- Fluency in Spanish as well as English is preferred, but not required.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications and use of the Internet
- Must have a car, driver’s license and insurance; cell phone with email capability.
Compensation:
Starting Salary $65K, majority employer paid medical, dental and vision benefits for employee and family; holidays, sick leave, vacation, pension and 401(k).
This is a two year, grant funded position.
