Labor Relations Staff Attorney / Senior Counsel for Labor Relations

The National Air Traffic Controllers Association, AFL-CIO ("NATCA"), the labor union representing federal-sector and private-sector air traffic controllers and other aviation safety professionals, has an immediate opening for a Labor Relations Staff Attorney/Senior Counsel for Labor Relations in its Washington, D.C. headquarters office.

The Labor Relations Staff Attorney/Senior Counsel for Labor Relations is responsible for: (1) representing NATCA and its members in hearings before arbitrators, the MSPB, the FLRA, and other forums; (2) representing the organization in briefings concerning changes in working conditions and conducting midterm bargaining; (3) providing verbal and written guidance to NATCA’s National Executive Board and local representatives on the administration of collective bargaining agreements, the Federal Service Labor-Management Relations Statute, and the National Labor Relations Act; and (4) providing guidance on internal and external organizing campaigns in both the federal and private sectors.

Applicants for the Labor Relations Staff Attorney position should have at least two or more years of relevant post-law school experience; applicants for the Senior Counsel for Labor Relations position must have a minimum of eight years of relevant post-law school experience.

Applicants should have a demonstrated commitment to the labor movement and experience with union-side labor law (particularly with grievance processing, arbitrations, and negotiations). Applicants should also possess excellent legal research and writing skills, be capable of handling complex assignments with minimal supervision, and have the ability to meet tight deadlines. Applicants should be a member in good standing of the District of Columbia Bar; if not already admitted, admission will be required within one year of the date of hire.

The pay band for the Labor Relations Staff Attorney position is $90,070 to $144,568; the pay band for the Senior Counsel for Labor Relations position is $102,079 to $165,728.
