The New York State Nurses Association is a labor organization of over 40,000 frontline nurses standing together for strength at work, nursing practice, safe staffing, and healthcare for all. We are New York's largest union and professional association for registered nurses.
This position will report to the Deputy Field Director. The Director of Labor Education is responsible for leading and directing the Labor Education Department, contributing to the implementation of NYSNA's goals and objectives through developing and implementing the Union’s Labor Education programs, labor education and professional training of members, member leaders and NYSNA staff.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate, create and teach labor education in support of NYSNA's transformation, goals and campaigns. This includes classes, member leader training programs, staff development programs, conferences, lobby days and the Delegated Convention.
- Collaborate with the NYSNA staff leadership, NYSNA Board members and other unions, organizations and educational institutions to meet NYSNA's goals in labor education and staff development.
- Contribute to the development of current and new NYSNA member leaders.
- Teach, observe and mentor departmental staff, field staff and consultants in labor and political economy education and staff development.
- Supervise and evaluate staff
- Guide and direct labor education departmental staff and consultants
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated ability to create and implement transformational labor education and to manage complex events and projects.
- Demonstrated success with leading staff and working with union staff leaders, staff, and member leaders.
- Five (5) years of experience in transformational labor education and overseeing complex programs required.
- BA required; Master's degree or equivalent experience in labor education and fieldwork preferred.
- Proficiency in written communication at an advanced professional level.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and similar programs.
- Understanding of the healthcare industry and the role of unions within it.
- Ability to work long and irregular hours and lead others to do so, ability to travel.
- Experience in RN union or healthcare union preferred.

SALARY RANGE: $125,000-$135,000 annually
