Accountant / Backup Bookkeeper
Based in Wheat Ridge, CO
UFCW Local 7, the largest private sector labor Union in Colorado representing more than 23,000 workers, is seeking an Accountant / Backup Bookkeeper. The individual must have a passion for Labor Unions, understand collective bargaining unit work and always have the best interest of our members in mind. The position is responsible for providing a variety of accounting assignments.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Accurate data entry
- Research
- Maintain appropriate financial systems and procedures
- Prepare financial statements
- Process payroll and quarterly reports
- Purchasing inventory and supplies
- Reconciliation of cash receipts
- Tag and monitor fixed assets
- Monthly reports and liabilities
- Pay invoices in a timely manner
- Maintain an orderly accounting filing system and general ledger
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements
- Monitor staff vacation time and insurance benefits
- Organize general ledger for Senior Accountant
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field
- 5+ years of proven accounting experience
- MAS 90 program or similar accounting software preferred
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting
- Experience with record keeping, payroll, accounts payable and bank reconciliations
- Accounting and bookkeeping experience
- Detail oriented
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Interact in a professional and timely manner with staff
- Must be able to work flexible hours on occasion

Wage Rate: $1,347.47 per week DOE, plus weekly bonus of $336.85.
