Accountant / Backup Bookkeeper

Based in Wheat Ridge, CO

 

UFCW Local 7, the largest private sector labor Union in Colorado representing more than 23,000 workers, is seeking an Accountant / Backup Bookkeeper. The individual must have a passion for Labor Unions, understand collective bargaining unit work and always have the best interest of our members in mind. The position is responsible for providing a variety of accounting assignments.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Accurate data entry
• Research
• Maintain appropriate financial systems and procedures
• Prepare financial statements
• Process payroll and quarterly reports
• Purchasing inventory and supplies
• Reconciliation of cash receipts
• Tag and monitor fixed assets
• Monthly reports and liabilities
• Pay invoices in a timely manner
• Maintain an orderly accounting filing system and general ledger
• Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements
• Monitor staff vacation time and insurance benefits
• Organize general ledger for Senior Accountant
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field
• 5+ years of proven accounting experience
• MAS 90 program or similar accounting software preferred
• Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting
• Experience with record keeping, payroll, accounts payable and bank reconciliations
• Accounting and bookkeeping experience
• Detail oriented
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Interact in a professional and timely manner with staff
• Must be able to work flexible hours on occasion

Wage Rate: $1,347.47 per week DOE, plus weekly bonus of $336.85.
