Deputy Director

Based in Los Angeles, CA
The Deputy Director will assist in leading the External Organizing Department in meeting the goals that align with the vision and mission of SEIU2015. Must show skill in all core competencies expected of Local 2015 staff. The Deputy Director reports to the Organizing Director.
Duties & Responsibilities:
A wide range of responsibilities including but not limited to:
- All areas of staff development, hiring, training, development, supervision, managing and discipline.
- Independently develops, implements and is responsible for outcomes of campaigns that align with and produce results towards the program of the Local and International Union.
- Train and assist staff in identifying, recruiting and developing leaders to successfully implement the mission, goals and work of the union
- Plays an active role in the development of the membership
- Coordinate teams of staff in developing and implementing programs and campaigns
- Hold staff accountable and challenges them to embrace change in all aspects of their work
- Evaluate staff, develop and implement staff development plans
- Trouble shoot in any area of the department
- Coordinates with Internal Member Strength Directors on campaign work and staff development progress
- Creates systems within the department to track campaign, member and staff progress
- Provides direction, staff development and disciplinary action, if needed, to staff in his/her department
- Assuming part or all of the Directors role, as needed, in the event of absence, leave or period of high workload
Qualifications:
- Experienced in leading large teams of staff and members
- Develop and implement campaign plans
- Work highly independent as well as with teams
- Knowledge of the Industry, the workers and workforce
- Inspire, motivate and communicate effectively with staff and members
- Working knowledge of computer programs Word, email, accessing the Internet and databases
- Effective oral skills, written and listening skills in English; bilingual skills highly desirable
- Skilled at managing and meeting many and varying deadlines
- Effective facilitating and organizing meeting skills
Competencies:
- Proven ability to work with people in diverse background
- Proven ability to provide effective leadership
- Exercises good judgement
Working Conditions:
Work long and irregular hours including evenings and weekends. Driving long distances for extended periods of time with overnight stays. Must have a valid Driver License, auto insurance and working automobile. May be based in Oakland or Los Angeles.

Salary Range: $122,129.97 - $128,312.79
