Accounting Manager

JOB TITLE: Accounting Manager
DEPARTMENT: Accounting

REPORTS TO: Secretary/Treasurer
JOB SUMMARY:
The Accounting Manager will oversee, plan, and direct the accounting operations and accounting staff of the organization.
SUPERVISES AND PREPARES PERFORMANCE APPRAISALS FOR EMPLOYEES IN THE FOLLOWING POSITIONS:
- Administrative Assistants (3)
ESSENTIAL TASKS:
- Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk of fraud.
- Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and/or international financial reporting standards.
- Recommend benchmarks that will be used to measure the organization’s performance.
- Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to the Executive Board through monthly financial reporting.
- Provides monthly financial analysis to the Executive Board.
- Supports all external auditors and provides needed information for the annual financial and other audits.
- Files quarterly and annual reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
- Prepares LM-2 with the Department of Labor annually.
- Processes biweekly payroll for approximately 500 employees ensuring timely and accurate payroll process.
- Ensure accurate processing of 401(k) contribution payments.
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED BY THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have excellent organizational, problem solving, communication skills and the ability to work independently.
- Must be a critical thinker who is a team player with a high degree of integrity, proven ability to multitask, work under pressure, meet deadlines, handle confidential matters, and possess the flexibility to work in a fast paced, fluid office environment.
- Must have demonstrated proficiency and a high level of comfort with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Access, Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint, and Microsoft 365.
- Must be detailed oriented with a high level of comfort working with large spreadsheets, formula based and integrated spreadsheets.
- Must be experienced with relational databases, accounting and/or payroll software and fixed asset software and routine reconciliations on a monthly quarterly and annual basis.
- Must be comfortable with the utilization of various software and accessing information from various websites.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- 3-5 five years of accounting or finance management experience.
Compensation & Benefits:
Starting salary is $123,457 with annual and bi-annual increases according to salary scale. This position is a full-time exempt position; 100% in the office, Monday – Friday. Benefits include health insurance, 401-K(matching), vacation and sick days, Flexible spending account, employer paid dental, vision, and life insurance.
